Success Story
Helper City, Utah - Hazardous Materials Response
Helper City, Utah contacted the U.S. EPA for reimbursement of costs incurred while responding to a clandestine methamphetamine lab in May 2006. Due to the hazardous nature of clandestine methamphetamine labs, the appropriate hazardous materials response team had to be called in for chemical removal and decontamination of law enforcement personnel. Since the responsible person for this incident was incarcerated, the Local Government Reimbursement program was able to assist the local community by awarding $25,000 for contractor and overtime costs incurred by the city.
