POLICE CHIEF (New requirements)

UNION CITY is accepting applications along with resumes (applications and resumes required) for Police Chief now through the close of business on November 17, 2021.  Applications and resumes will not be accepted after November 17, 2021.  Testing and interviews will be conducted December 9-10, 2021, in Union City.  Details will be sent to applicants selected to interview.  Minimum requirements include High School diploma or equivalent.  Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university with major in criminal justice, police science or related field desired.  Comprehensive knowledge of law enforcement best practices, leadership, budget, and personnel management required.  At least 15 years of extensively responsible experience in traditional community-based law enforcement.  Proven supervision, management, and administration experience preferred.  Successful completion of the FBI National Academy, Southern Police Institute (SPI), Senior Management Institute of Police (SMIP) or Southeastern Leadership Academy, or equivalent are preferred.  Possession of or must obtain certification of training for Police Administration. (Law Enforcement Management and Administration (LEMA)), within first year of hire.  Must pass extensive background check.  Must possess Tennessee P.O.S.T. certification or be eligible for transition as described in Tennessee P.O.S.T. rules.  Must possess a valid Tennessee Driver's License or obtain within 30 days of hire.  Updated Pay Range $62,192 - $87,526 annual DOQ.  Applications and resumes are required.  Interested applicants can review all requirements and job information and can apply at the Union City website:  www.unioncitytn.gov.
